Information about salons: what, where from and why

Salon Shortlist lists hair salons, barbershops, nail salons, beauty salons and massage places so people can choose one. What we collect: for each business, its name, address, location, website, phone number, services, opening hours and facts such as online booking, prices and parking. Where it comes from: public sources only: the business's own website, OpenStreetMap and Overture Maps Foundation. We do not buy lists and we do not collect it from the individual directly. Why: to help people find and compare salons. This is business information. Some businesses are run by one person, so a listing can contain a person's name, and the business address and phone number of a sole proprietor can be personal information. If a listing shows a sole proprietor's home address or personal details and you want it changed or removed, tell us and we will do it. We do not use reviews, photos or personal social media profiles. We show a phone number only if the business publishes it on its own website.

We do not sell or share personal information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to profile anyone. We keep a listing for as long as the business operates and the information is public, and update it when the business's website changes. We use these service providers, who handle data only on our instructions: OpenAI (to read public web pages and check them) and Supabase (our database). Our systems are run from the United Kingdom, so information may be processed outside the United States.

Correct or remove your listing

If you run a listed business you can ask us to correct your details, tell you what we hold about you, or remove your listing. Use the "Correct or remove this listing" button on your salon's page or email contact@salonshortlist.com. We act on requests without asking you to create an account, and we may ask for a simple check that you are connected to the business before we change or remove anything. We respond within 7 days.

Visitors to this site

We do not ask you to sign up, and the site does not set cookies or use advertising or cross-site tracking tools. We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not follow you from site to site; it records which page was viewed, the country and the type of device. Our host, Vercel, keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser and the page requested) for a short time to run the site securely. To spot automated copying of our salon data we also count, for 14 days, how many searches each network makes per hour; we store only the first part of the address (for example 203.0.113.0, never the full address), no names and no page content. Because we do not track you across sites, we have nothing to turn off for "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals.

• "Use my location": your browser asks for permission first; the location is used in your browser only to pick the nearest area and is not sent to us.
• Google: the "Location and reviews" link on a salon page opens Google Maps in a new tab. Google's own privacy policy applies to that.

Your choices

Depending on where you live (for example California or Texas) you may have the right to ask for access to, correction of or deletion of personal information about you, and to appeal our answer. Email contact@salonshortlist.com and we will answer within 7 days. If you disagree with our answer, reply and say so and a person will look again. We will not treat you differently for making a request. You may use an authorized agent to make a request for you.

Children and changes

The site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If we change this notice we change the date at the top.
